Simple Math is not easy. At least not when you have a headset on, trying to make adjustments, talking to anywhere between five and fifteen young men, and all the while listening to three to five other coaches talking through a the headset. When your team is driving the field it is typically easy to decide what to do: kick the extra point or Go For 2. However, when you just scored and the other team is driving and you need to add zero, three, six, seven or even eight to their score, you now need to add six to yours, then go to “The Card.” The 2 point interactive scoreboard allows the fans to predict the future as well as the coach to take matters in his own hands and not worry about having three or more coaches in the box figuring out what you need to do next.
This app also includes a run/pass by down and distance scoreboard. Stats! So much of this game is about statistics which lead to tendencies. Defensive coordinators are trying to get a beat on what teams run by down and distance, personnel and formations. At the same time, offenses are trying to stay balanced and not “show their hand”. As a fan and as a coach the amount of times I’ve noticed the unbalance of throwing on 1st down or always running on 3rd and short is immeasurable and significantly valuable. As a staff, this app allows you to track the very basic play call in football and can be comparable to “fastball vs offspeed pitch on a 3-2 count”. As coaches, we chart our play calls but we have no live stats. As a fan, you now get to see how the offensive came is being called, predict calls, make bets with your buddies and most importantly second guess the coach. What a great way to make the game interactive.
